Earth Day 2023

Plant Trees in Honor of Earth Day!

Invest in Our Planet!
Plant trees at Beaver Hollow May 12-14 to celebrate Earth Day 2023

The Friends are  planting trees at Beaver Hollow on Friday, May 12, through Sunday, May 14, beginning at 9 am each day, and you are invited to join in and help! We’ll be planting red oak, swamp white oak, bur oak, hackberry, and black cherry – all tree species expected to grow and thrive in a warmer, drier climate. The FNPCW is anticipating both the loss of trees to the invasive emerald ash borer insect, and warming climate conditions. Volunteers will plant using augers and planting bars, and install tree tubes around the newly planted trees. This will protect the oaks and cherries from predation by deer and rabbits. Please sign up and let us know what days you’ll be joining the effort. Lunch will be provided for volunteers who stay for the day. We need to know how many people to plan for! Bring work or garden gloves, and dress for the weather.
