Boardwalk Extension Complete

Thanks to the hard work of our Friends’ project manager, and two dedicated Northland College interns, Cecilia and Peyton, the boardwalk extension at Beaver Hollow is now complete! Viewing benches will be installed on the new boardwalk platform in the next few weeks. The total boardwalk length is now 1,116 feet. The boardwalk adjoins a hard packed fine crushed gravel walking path, and ends 1,650 feet from the parking lot. Benches are conveniently placed approximately every 100 feet along the trail for resting and wildlife viewing. The new extension ends where a creek flowing from the marsh widens as it enters a large beaver pond. This waterway is a natural corridor for birds and animals moving between the marsh and North Pikes Creek. When you visit, don’t forget your binoculars and camera!

More than half the funding for the extension was generously contributed by FNPCW members, with additional funds provided by the Green Bay Packers Foundation, the Memorial Medical Center Regional Wellness Fund, the Walmart Community Grant program, a Bayfield County Health Infrastructure grant, and the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation Animal Assisted Therapy fund. This boardwalk project was truly a community effort, and the FNPCW is thankful for each and every one of you who helped make this community asset a reality. It will be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike for generations to come!
