Fishers are rarely, if ever, seen by hikers walking through the woods. The public generally knows very little about these shy creatures. Dr. Michael Joyce, Wildlife Ecologist at the Natural Resources Research Institute in Duluth, shared information on the long-term research being done at the Institute on Fishers.
Toilet for Beaver Hollow
The Friends are pleased to have recently received grant funding from the Four Cedars Environmental Fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation to install a small restroom building with an electric incinerating toilet at their Beaver Hollow Outdoor Education Area. It is not feasible to engage school classes and community groups in educational programs and stewardship projects at Beaver Hollow, on the scale desired by the community, until toilet facilities are provided at the site. We require additional funding, however, to begin this toilet project, so please consider making a donation today toward this all-important project. Contact the Friends if you have questions about the toilet project.
