Friends Purchase Additional North Pikes Creek Property!

The Friends are pleased to announce the purchase of a 10-acre North Pikes Creek wetland property that adjoins the Community Forest on the south side. The acquisition of this acreage protects it from conversion to non-conservation uses. The Friends will protect this wetland property, and its substantial conservation values, in perpetuity. North Pikes Creek, an important corridor for migratory birds and other wildlife, traverses the property from north to south.

This new addition to the Friends’ Conservation Area is open to the public for non-motorized, nature-based recreation, such as walking, snowshoeing, photography, and wildlife and bird watching. Signs will be placed along Compton Rd this fall to indicate its boundaries.
