Phase II Boardwalk Extension Complete!
The phase II extension of the boardwalk with viewing platform at the Beaver Hollow Outdoor Education Area is complete! The boardwalk, now 728′ long, provides a quiet, tranquil place where visitors can experience a walk outdoors in nature in comfort and safety. The boardwalk, like all the infrastructure at Beaver Hollow, is fully ADA-compliant, ensuring that no child or adult in our community will be denied the opportunity to visit the site and enjoy quality time in a unique, natural setting. There is no other facility like it in our region. The two viewing platforms and 12 benches along the trail offer places to rest, view and interact with wildlife, and immerse in a peaceful forest atmosphere. Beaver Hollow is open for visitors all day, every day, year-round.
This additional viewing platform with benches was funded in part by a Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation Animal Assisted Therapy Fund Award. The additional 104′ of boardwalk was funded by generous community donations from our Friends’ members.
A third boardwalk extension is planned for spring of 2022. The FNPCW is currently raising funds to complete this additional 320′ section that will travel through a wetland forest to a viewing platform overlooking a beaver pond.
