FNPCW Participates in State Beaver Management Plan Update
Wisconsin’s Beaver Management Plan (2015-2025) is currently undergoing an update. The WDNR assembled a Beaver Management Plan Committee consisting of invited members of government agencies, tribal communities, the Wisconsin Conservation Congress, and a wide spectrum of interest groups representing hunting/trapping, fishing/cold water, wetlands/habitat, environmental, agriculture, conservation, and education interests. FNPCW President, Kathy Wendling, is serving on the Committee and will represent our organization’s interest in nonlethal management of beavers and the protection and expansion of the beaver wetlands remaining on Wisconsin’s landscape.
The Beaver Management Plan Committee will provide input to the Wisconsin DNR over the 4-month plan development process. The public will have an opportunity to weigh in on the policies in the new plan through four workshops held across the state, an online questionnaire, and a 45-day review period to comment on the draft of the management plan.
