Fishers are rarely, if ever, seen by hikers walking through the woods. The public generally knows very little about these shy creatures. Dr. Michael Joyce, Wildlife Ecologist at the Natural Resources Research Institute in Duluth, shared information on the long-term research being done at the Institute on Fishers.
Beaver Hollow is open all year
No matter the weather – Beaver Hollow is open for outdoor recreation.
The Beaver Hollow facility, including the restroom, is open for your enjoyment year round. Feel free to use the snow shovels left at the site to clean the picnic tables and benches. Please note – the ice on the marsh and creek is not thick enough at this time to support your weight. We will notify the membership when the ice is stable and snowshoeing is safe to undertake. Until then, take a hike on the Leopold Loop, watch birds at the feeder, or make snow angels. Whatever you do – enjoy getting outdoors year round!
