SUMMARY:Brian Heeringa presents Bats of Wisconsin
DESCRIPTION:Join Brian Heeringa\, Wildlife Biologist for the Washburn Ranger District of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest\, on Thursday\, August 3rd to learn about the bats of Wisconsin\, and which bats call North Pikes Creek Wetlands home. Discover the importance of bats and the role they play in ecosystems around the world. The summer months are a busy time for bats in Wisconsin and their presence on the landscape can be seen at dusk as they come out to forage for insects. We may see bats emerge from the bat house near the pavilion. Following the presentation – at approximately 9 pm – you have the option of taking a short hike on the nearby boardwalk to observe bats foraging in the area using bat detectors to listen in on their echolocation. Bring a small flashlight for the walk. \nThe event is free. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. \nREGISTER HERE\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X

SUMMARY:Spring Ephemeral Walk & Garden Cleanup at Beaver Hollow
DESCRIPTION:Join Marisa Lee of the Chequamegon Wild Ones for a walk at Beaver Hollow\, followed by a session of garden cleanup in the pollinator garden. \nEvent postponed  to the 20th due to weather. \n10 am Spring Ephemerals walk: See what’s blooming along the new Leopold Loop through the woods at Beaver Hollow. (Note: this route departs from the universally accessible path and boardwalk at Beaver Hollow for .4 miles.) \n11 am Wildflower Garden Volunteer Day: Learn how to maintain a native wildflower garden during this service project! While there is no “big clean-up” necessary each spring and fall as in more traditional ornamental gardens\, native plantings do require some care. We’ll remove interlopers\, relocate floppers\, and divide abundant plants to spread them around. We’ll also place educational Wild Ones plant markers to help visitors identify the flowers. \nContact Marisa Lee with questions. \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X

SUMMARY:Tree Planting Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Sign up for tree planting May 12-14.\n\nWe will be getting together to plant trees at Beaver Hollow on Friday\, May 12\, through Sunday\, May 14\, beginning at 9 am each day\, and we’d like your help! SUMMARY:Brian Heeringa presents Bats of Wisconsin
DESCRIPTION:Join Brian Heeringa\, Wildlife Biologist for the Washburn Ranger District of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest\, to learn about the bats of Wisconsin and which bats call North Pikes Creek Wetlands home.
