Tree Planting Weekend
May 10 @ 9:00 am - May 12 @ 5:00 pm
FreeSign up and help plant trees at Beaver Hollow during a three day tree planting event held Friday May 10th through Sunday May 12th
We’re underplanting trees in the black ash forest at Beaver Hollow on Friday, May 10, through Sunday, May 12, beginning at 9 am each day, and we’d like you to volunteer to help! We are planting swamp white oak, bur oak, and hackberry plugs, and bare root 4-5′ disease resistant American elm trees this year.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and bring work or garden gloves. Waterproof footwear will likely be needed this time of year. The Friends will provide all planting equipment as well as lunch and drinks. We’ll start at 9 am each morning, and break for lunch in the pavilion at noon. During the break, Trout Unlimited’s Great Lakes Program staff will talk about their stream protection efforts in the upper Great Lakes area, and they’ll bring fly rods for you to practice your “grass” casting technique!
Sunday afternoon, around 4 pm, we’ll end the weekend planting effort with a cookout at Beaver Hollow for all weekend volunteers. FNPCW, SRWA, and TU Great Lakes will provide a feast of brats and beer.
